Scott knows that Utah’s business-friendly environment makes it possible for our state to attract and retain many great industries that do business here. As a U.S. senator, Scott will ensure that Utah remains on the road to lasting economic growth.
As the father of four sons and the grandfather of three, Scott knows that a strong education system is not only the key to their future, but also to the economic future of Utah. Scott strongly believes that education decisions should be made by local school boards, school districts and parents.
Scott is opposed to dismantling the Medicare safety net for over 260,000 Utah seniors. He believes that there is no need to end Medicare in order to save it by forcing seniors into the private market with a voucher to purchase more expensive private coverage.
Health care services in America are far too expensive. We must continue to find solutions to make health care more affordable, so that families are not financially ruined because of illness or tragedy. Scott supports elements of the Affordable Care Act that eliminate pre-existing condition barriers from insurance coverage. Scott also supports the measures that allow parents to keep their children on their insurance plans longer.
Scott believes that renewable energy is homeland security. It means safer jobs and more jobs. One of the biggest obstacles facing our nation today is our dependence on foreign oil. Scott Howell believes that breaking this addition should be a top national priority.
Born and raised in Utah, Scott grew up in Salt Lake City and spent his summers working on his grandfather’s farm in Castle Dale. He credits his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and his religious community for shaping who he is today.
Scott will be a strong advocate for our great servicemen and servicewomen that have served our country. Scott understands how important it is to increase health care for cognitive injuries and to increase opportunities for higher education, housing and jobs.
